The Most Valued Innovative Tourism Products Contest aims to recognize innovative tourism products designed to match new consumer trends and provide a tourism experience that adds more value to the tourism market.
In its ninth edition, the + Valor Turístico Contest emphasizes sustainable tourism, honoring “experiences that stand out for offering products, services, and tourism environments that incorporate concrete sustainable practices with a positive impact on their surroundings.”
Sustainable Tourism
The principles of sustainability cover the environmental, economic, and sociocultural aspects of tourism development, aiming for a proper balance. Therefore, sustainable tourism should:
a) Use environmental resources responsibly, maintain essential ecological processes, and help preserve natural resources and biodiversity.
b) Respect the sociocultural authenticity of host communities, preserve their cultural, architectural heritage, and traditional values, and promote intercultural understanding and tolerance.
c) Ensure long-term economic activities that provide well-distributed socioeconomic benefits, including stable employment, income opportunities, and social services for host communities, contributing to poverty reduction.
A tourism product that incorporates sustainable practices is designed to minimize environmental impact, protect biodiversity, and support the sustainable development of local communities.
